Recommendations

Dear guests of Albizia Apartments!

At this point we have put together a few personal recommendations for you as to what you can do in Baden and the surrounding area.

Please note that the recommendations for theater and stage are not listed in non-German descriptions, as German language skills are required for this. We ask you to read the German version if necessary.

These are purely personal tips. They are based on our individual pleasure. They claim neither completeness nor any ranking. And, of course, we don’t receive any allowances here either.

How do I get to Vienna?

Rule of thumb
– Day trips to Vienna for max. 2 people rather public
– Extension to a day ticket within Vienna: additional approx. 8 €
– On Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, it is more likely to be by car, as it is easier to park
The tickets can be purchased at the counter, vending machine or here.

By car
Albizia Apartments – Wien Mitte: approx. 35 min
A short-stay concession applies throughout Vienna, valid Mon.-Fri. (Working day), 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m., maximum parking time = 2 h. There are some exceptions for commercial streets or street sides, which are reserved exclusively for residents. These exceptions are always well signposted at the beginning and end of the parking lane. Outside Mon.-Fri. (Working day), 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Parking is also possible in areas marked for residents.

Public transport: train and subway
Baden train station – U1, Stephansplatz: approx. 45 min. Single tickets, daily and weekly tickets are available at Baden train station, optionally including all public transport within Vienna. Discount for children, seniors, the needy, students and groups of 6 or more people. The tickets can be purchased at the counter, vending machine or here.

Public transport: Badener Bahn
Josefsplatz Baden – Vienna State Opera: approx. 60 min.
The tickets described above are also valid for the traditional, slightly slower Badener Bahn, stop Josefsplatz. This also takes you to one of the largest shopping centers in Europe, the SCS Westfield (bus stop: Vösendorf SCS). There is also plenty of free parking at SCS Westfield. (Exit A2: Mödling)

Traditional Austrian Wine restaurants

Heurigen restaurants are simple wine taverns, run by local winegrowers, in which they are allowed to offer their own wine, the “Heurigen” as well as food to go with it. They are found in Baden and all other wine villages in Austria. Since the wine taverns are not allowed to be open all year round, they alternate and publish their opening times in wine tavern calendars, also on the internet. But there are always enough open at the same time.
